Moving to long term care comes with many questions and concerns. To help you navigate through the transition of moving into the RK, the Handbook for Residents and Families was developed to provide you with lots of information about Long Term Care and the Home. This information may help to answer some of today’s questions or may be more useful as a reference down the road. However you choose to use it, please remember we are always here to discuss your questions and concerns directly. Just give us a call.

Scent Aware
The RK MacDonald Nursing Home is a scent aware facility. Scented products contain chemicals which can cause migraines, nausea and even breathing problems for people with asthma, allergies, and environmental illness. We have both residents and staff who are negatively affected by scented products. Please refrain from wearing perfume, scented hairspray, cologne, scented deodorant, aftershave or any other scented products when you come to the RK MacDonald Nursing Home.
Family Council
A Family Council, developed and run by family members of residents living with us, provides the Home with a unique perspective on living in a long term care facility. It is a voice that we welcome, appreciate and value as we continually strive towards excellence. If you are a family member of a resident of the RK, please become active in Family Council. Additionally information is available from our Administrative Assistant.
